“The best school holiday I can remember…”
Composition of an 11-year-old girl about her memory of festivities at school when she was in the fourth grade. The teachers had the students play games, including one in which they had to bite an apple hanging from a string without using their hands. This student attended the Dinesohn School, a Yiddish school of the Central Education Committee (TsBK) Yiddish school network in Vilna. The Dinesohn School was named after beloved Yiddish writer Jacob Dinesohn (died 1919).
