Der bartenura (The Rabbi from Bartenura), by Ayzik Meyer Dik (died 1893), was published in Vilna by the printing house Widow and Brothers Romm. Vilna was a center of Jewish publishing in the 1800s and 1900s. It helped develop modern, Yiddish, and Hebrew literature. Dik was a native of Vilna. He was a prolific novel writer. And he was the first, and best-selling, Yiddish author.
