Yitskhok Rudashevski and Family’s Maline

Video and photographs, Vilnius, Lithuania, 2022.

This is drone footage of the maline (hiding place) where Yitskhok Rudashevski and his family hid during their last days, and where his cousin Sore Voloshin later returned to find his diary. In the video it’s possible to see a residual area between three buildings with roof tiles on top, which likely marks the spot of their hiding place. Below is a photograph of the actual attic of the house in which they hid. The attic has been closed since they hid there, and a portion is closed with a wall partition. While unlikely, there may be remains of their possessions inside the locked area.

Photograph of an attic. Very low lighting, and the sun is entering the space through slits in the roof. Many things clutter the floor but you can't see exactly what they are, and there is the silhouette of a person, likely a woman, on the left side.
