Typed accounts of the partisan Julek Smokowski. Although the document is missing its first seven pages, 78 sheets remained with relevant information. It references events in August 1942 and after. The memoirs describe smuggling in and outside the Warsaw Ghetto; eyewitness to deportations in the summer of 1942; first-hand description of the fighting in the Warsaw ghetto uprising in April-May 1943; description of mass shootings of Jews captured during the Warsaw ghetto uprising, including chanting of “Shma Yisrael” as they awaited being shot; contact with Polish partisans; hiding from the Germans; constructing bunkers; the joy of liberation at the arrival of Russian troops; bringing the news back to the other Jews in the bunker; and celebrations.
