Ghetto Police Report

Vilna Ghetto, 1941. Handwritten report.

Notice by Policeman Segal of his all-night duty at the Gate of Vilna Ghetto number 2. Full translation below:

Report to the Police of Ghetto No. 2

As Policeman No. 21, I served guard duty at the Gate on the 10th, from 9 to 1 during the day, and from 5 to 7:30 in the evening. I was appointed, along with Sapozhnikov, to serve night guard duty from 9 in the evening till 5 in the morning. I came on time, but Sapozhnikov came with Dr. Goldberg at 10:30. Then Sapozhnikov said he was leaving to bring a fur coat, but he never came back. I stood at the Gate alone all night. Policeman Rogovich can testify to that. I ask the Chief of Police to take this into consideration and put an end to such things.

Respectfully submitted,

Segal
