Henryk and Ludwika Rubinlicht pose with their daughter Lilia for a family portrait in the woods in the resort town of Otwock, Poland. Henryk, a businessman, came from a prominent Warsaw family. His siblings included the actress Bella Bellarina, and the writer and journalist Jadwiga Rubinlicht.
