“How I Imagine Myself a Year from Now”

Already when I was in 4th Grade, I used to contemplate what would become of me when I finished school. I was never able to answer that question. Finally, I finished school. Now I have been asked how I imagine myself a year from now. Can I imagine myself a year from now in this case?

“How I Imagine Myself a Year from Now”

I try to imagine this question in a world where terrible bloodshed has ceased, in a time where peace reigns in the world. I imagine myself a year from now as a student in the first year of High School. There are two things that I love: to acquire knowledge and to perform.  I imagine myself as a student and as an artist. By day I study and in the evening I go to the theater to perform or for a rehearsal. But this is just a dream. How can I, a child from a working-class family, attain such a goal? Instead, I imagine myself in front of a simple sewing machine and learn, like thousands of other children, to be a tailor or a seamstress. I have no desire for that. I am ninety-nine percent sure that a year from now….
