Title page of Masekhet Shavu’ot, a tractate, a section, of the Babylonian Talmud. It was published in Vilna by the printing house Widow and Brothers Romm. Vilna was a center of Jewish publishing in the 1800s and 1900s. The Romm family’s printing house was the largest in Eastern Europe in the 1800s. It operated continuously for more than 120 years.
